Wow! This must be such a cool opportunity for him!

Andy Serkis will not only be reprising his role in The Lord of the Rings trilogy as Gollum in the upcoming Peter Jackson-directed prequel, The Hobbit, but this time around, he'll also be the second unit director on the fantasy epic!

He revealed:

"There is really a sense of [director] Peter [Jackson] wanting people around him who totally understand the material and the work ethic. I will be very much on the live-action sets and locations helping Peter to tell the story."

Wow! Talk about a trusting relationship!

We're sure must be thrilled to take on this exciting new role!
